Listed below are short histories for some of the core neighborhoods that help to make up and define Denver.

Belcaro
Exposition Avenue, Colorado Boulevard, Tennessee Avenue and Steele Street border the Belcaro neighborhood, just south of Cherry Creek and the Polo Grounds (now home to beautiful homes rather than to beautiful ponies). Dubbed “Belcaro” (beautiful dear one) by Lawrence C. Phipps, treasurer of Carnegie Steel and U.S. Senator. Phipps built the lovely Phipps Mansion, located at 3400 Belcaro Drive.

Bonnie Brae
This fabulous neighborhood is defined by the area east of University Boulevard to Steele Street, and south of Exposition to Mississippi. There are many large and small, well-kept homes in this classic Denver neighborhood.
Bonnie Brae Ice Cream, the best ice cream shop in Denver, calls this neighborhood home. This shop makes all of it’s own ice cream (try the chocolate shake), and you’ll find long lines wending out the door during the summer months.

Cherry Creek
Cherry Creek takes its name from the creek, and accompanying bike/running trail, that runs through the heart of Denver. Cherry Creek North is home to upscale boutiques, art galleries, gourmet restaurants and luxury housing. The fashionable Cherry Creek Mall is one of Colorado's finest. Cherry Creek is defined by Colorado Boulevard to University, and 6th Avenue to 1st Avenue.

Congress Park
Congress Park has a history that goes back to the 1880's. It’s current condition warrants its placement among the most popular neighborhoods in Denver. Centrally located, with traditional brick homes that have mostly been renovated, Congress Park is an ideal place to live. The homes along 7th Avenue are some of the most majestic in the city. 12th Avenue from University Boulevard to Monroe Street provides locals with near-by shopping and dining.

Cory Merrill
Cory Merrill, a neighborhood often overshadowed in the past by its three neighbors, Bonnie Brae, Belcaro and Washington Park, has come into its own during the last decade. Defined by Mississippi to the north, I-25 to the south, University to the West, and Colorado Blvd to the east, Cory remains as quaint as it was in the 40's and 50's when it originated. It boasts one of the best elementary schools in the city, and some of the fastest growing property values in metro Denver. Known as one of the safest neighborhoods, it has attracted people from old to young in search of the perfect place to live.

Country Club
The Country Club Historic District and Country Club Place begin north of the Denver Country Club along Speer Boulevard and extend to 4th Avenue plus Circle Drive. From University Boulevard on the east, Country Club extends to Downing Street on the west. With only 380 architecturally stunning mansions and grand houses, Country Club is one of Denver’s most exclusive neighborhoods.

The Golden Triangle
The Golden Triangle is bordered by Broadway, Colfax, and Speer Boulevard. The Denver Public Library and The Denver Art Museum are two major elements of this neighborhood consisting of housing, restaurants and art galleries.

Highland
The Highland neighborhood is bordered by West 38th Avenue, the west side of I-25, Speer and West 32nd Avenue to Federal. It is a 15-minute walk to Lower Downtown and the Central Business District. The highlight of Highland can be found at 32nd and Lowell, where you will find charming boutiques, hip restaurants and nightlife.

Hilltop & Crestmoor
From the Hilltop Neighborhood, bounded by Colorado Boulevard, Holly, 6th Avenue Parkway, and Alameda, residents find an easy drive to downtown and to Cherry Creek. The homes throughout Hilltop range from 1950's ranch-style, many of which have been updated and enlarged, to large, stately homes bordering the parks and parkways. Hilltop’s two wonderful parks, Cranmer and Robinson, boast fabulous views of the Front Range.
Crestmoor is the neighborhood just east of Hilltop, encompassing Holly, 6th Avenue Parkway, Monaco, and Alameda. This area, like its Hilltop neighbor, has seen an explosion of homes which have undergone extensive remodeling and enlarging.

Park Hill
An easy commute to downtown Denver, Park Hill covers the neighborhood east of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science from Colorado Boulevard to Quebec Street and from Colfax Avenue on the south to 28th Street on the north. This has come to be know as one of Denver’s best integrated communities. Well known for its magnificent trees and friendly community, Park Hill is a beautiful place to live!

Platt Park
Part of the original Town of South Denver, the Platt Park neighborhood ranges from Downing Street to South Broadway Street and from Mississippi Avenue to Evans Avenue. James Fleming, the town's only mayor, built his historic estate in 1882 at 1510 South Grant Street. The house, with its smooth stone walls and rotundas, was sold by Fleming in 1891 and served as the town hall, jail and library until annexed by the City of Denver in 1894. The neighborhood, just west of the University of Denver's campus, is a popular location for students and local businesses. This neighborhood is becoming one of the hottest in Denver.

Washington Park
At the heart of this beautiful park you’ll find it’s namesake – the 162-acre Washington Park. One of the most beloved parks in Denver, it is a haven for cyclists, runners and walkers. This neighborhood ranges from I-25 to Exposition and from University to Downing. On Old South Gaylord (between Mississippi and Tennessee), you’ll find fantastic neighborhood restaurants and boutiques.
Some of our favorites spots in “Wash Park” include the Washington Park Grille (a terrific, contemporary restaurant anchoring the southeast corner of the block), and Japon (well known for it’s great sushi).
